i'm not actually a worthwhile person, i just play one on the internet.
stuff that's maybe better than the other stuff, autobio, words about words, music stuff, film ask me shit, tell me shit, whateveri can hardly listen to big l’s “ebonics” because it reminds me too much of tom haverford’s “apps and zerts” speech.
thrilled that there’s finally gonna be another japandroids album, but the bit in the p4k interview where king sloughs off the minimalist lyricism as a result of his lack of confidence kinda disappoints me, cuz that was one of my favorite parts of post-nothing.
flocka’s “serious narration” bit in the “round of applause” video is the funniest thing i’ve heard in a long time (i lost it at “she became a fixture of the underworld”).
i can never take flocka’s gangsta bark seriously because i can’t shake that sense of him as, like, this goofy giant who loves puppies.
flocka chants the chorus until the semantic melts into pure sound, the hypnotic throb and sparkle of the beat; pulling you in like an undertow. many smaller repetitions, too: the constant echoed “baow”s, gudda gudda’s name (which lends itself to this anyway), the triple “brick squad” at about 1:32, “flexflexflex…” “ballballball…”, etc.

It’s fantastic.
But I’d love to find a song without something anti-woman in it.
