“this is my all-seeing eye dog,” the man announces.
RE: pat sajak
i’m not sure whether or not i like pat sajak. he reminds me a great deal of my high school english teacher—similar voice, similar self-effacing wit. sometimes it’s a refreshing alternative to the usual hostly gloss, others it seems smarmy (“too used car salesman”, my friend described it).
today, when a puzzle turned out to “if these walls could talk”, sajak...

RE: ilu cam
As popular as Cam has become from his raps, he’s almost as well-known for being a hip-hop fashion plate. He’s looking to set his next milestone, and get paid for it at the same time: Believe it or not, Killa is trying to patent his own color.
“I’m working with some scientists,” he said. “I don’t know how I’m gonna go about doing it. It’s...

SCHOOL OF ROCKISM
(more serious sidenote (i feel like i might’ve mentioned this before, but): i haven’t seen it in ages, and granted i’ve never been much for jack black, but i remember last i saw it not liking how silverman was written into such a stereotypical harpy character, in collusion w/the whole “don’t let women boss you around” thing that subplot had...

RE: opinions on the smiths
the queen is dead is not that great? it has a couple of great tracks, for sure, but also a couple that i always skip or at least don’t really care about either way. meat is murder is pretty much all aces save the title track, and if the first half+a track of louder than bombs was its own album that’d probably be my no. 1.

RE: favorite sounds on 'alopecia'
wolf has a way with long i’s, which is a sound i kinda like anyway.
“your cat clawed out my eyes while i’s distracted by your smile”
“but i am still alive in love and wide eyed in my time”
“Did anyone hear me cry there? Through a toilet stall divider I swear I care”
“you made it there fighting the tightest kite string in a bad storm...

RE: g.i. joe: retaliation
really excited for this. i saw rise of cobra on a whim—guess i was bored—late in its theatrical run. i wasn’t into joe growing up, and the film had been pretty much unanimously trashed, so i went in cynical. but i ended up loving it: it was a big dumb action movie in the absolute best sense, like if all the epics you played out with action figures when you were a kid were made into a real...

athousandvoicestalk replied to your post: What are your thoughts on Elvis? Is he better or…
Way better. He didn’t appropriate. He synthesized.
That’s my feeling. Elvis came to the music with a sincere love and appreciation of it. I think it’s fine if done for the right reasons. It’s a shame that it took Elvis to break rock & roll to a wide audience, because folks like...
